AI Usage Policy
Last updated: June 2025
PinPlate uses artificial intelligence to make saving restaurants fast and effortless. This page explains exactly how AI is used in the app, what data is sent, and what is never shared.
PinPlate uses Claude, built by Anthropic, to extract restaurant details from social media posts. We do not use AI to make decisions about you, profile you, or generate content on your behalf.
What AI Does in PinPlate
When you share a TikTok or Instagram link to PinPlate, we send the post's title, description, and captions to Claude to extract:
- Restaurant name
- Cuisine type
- Price range
- Location or neighborhood
- A short summary
This saves you from having to look up and type any of those details manually.
What Data Is Sent to the AI
We send only the publicly visible text content from the post — the title, description, and auto-generated captions. We do not send:
- Your name, email, or account information
- Your location
- Your saved restaurant history
- Any personal or identifying information
Data Retention by Anthropic
Requests to Claude are processed in real time and are not used to train Anthropic's models through our API integration. Anthropic may retain request data for a limited period for safety and trust purposes in accordance with their privacy policy. PinPlate does not store the raw text sent to the AI beyond the duration of the request.
AI Is a Tool, Not a Decision-Maker
The AI extracts suggested details — you always have the final say. Every field it fills in can be edited or corrected inside the app before or after saving. PinPlate does not use AI to make any automated decisions that affect you.
No AI-Generated Content in Your Feed
PinPlate does not use AI to generate restaurant recommendations, curate your collection, or influence what you see. The Trending tab is based purely on how many real users have saved a spot — no algorithmic ranking involved.
